Glass for Europe is monitoring the market to ensure that the recycling of automotive glass is being carried out effectively and in accordance with the requirements of Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles. In particular, the group is monitoring whether the market is managing to handle all end-of-life automotive glass.

It is also following the revision of Annex II to this directive, which gives a list of exemptions. In the case of automotive glass it relates to the use of lead-containing solder.
