Energy Efficiency Watch
Glass for Europe is a “Core Partner” in the recently launched Energy Efficiency Watch (EEW) initiative.
EEW was started by a cross-party group of MEPs who have a strong interest in energy efficiency. Their objective was to have a coalition which would monitor, at Member State level, the implementation of key EU Directives into national law, and would act as a network with national Parliamentarians who have a similar dedication to energy efficiency. The intention is that this wider network will create pressure on Member State governments to vigorously implement policies and legislation to help meet Europe’s carbon reduction targets. The costs of the project are being split between the Intelligent Energy Europe agency that is run by the Commission’s Transport and Energy service, and the Core Partners (industry trade associations). Glass for Europe was delighted to have been invited into Core Partner status so that we can play our part in meeting the objectives. We believe EEW forms a vital link between the Directives and Action Plans issued in Brussels and their practical implementation in the Member States.
